From public disorder and vandalism to open fires, the proliferation of unsafe supply, we need to improve public safety in Prince George.
This has included advocacy for expanded ReVOII:
The Repeat Violent Offending Intervention Initiative (ReVOII) is a provincial public safety program designed to reduce repeat violent crime and improve community safety. It's a product of BC Corrections and brings together police, prosecutors, probation officers, correctional supervisors, mental health professionals, and community support workers. The goal is stronger accountability and enforcement for repeat violent offenders, and addressing underlying factors like mental illness, substance use, and homelessness that can contribute to repeated offending.
... and advocacy for widespread implementation of CPOII:
The Chronic Property Offending Intervention Initiative (C-POII) is the property crime counterpart to ReVOII. Where ReVOII focuses on repeat violent offenders, C-POII targets people who repeatedly commit property crimes and public-disorder offences, such as shoplifting, theft, vandalism, break-ins, and chronic disruptive behaviour.
... and establishment of ND-UGET:
The North District Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (ND-UGET) was established this term in Prince George and will operate throughout northern BC. It's part of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC (CFSEU-BC), and focuses on organized crime, gang activity, drug trafficking, and the violence associated with it. We have already seen multiple arrests and seizures from the work of this team.
